Peter Zeillinger, a philosopher and theologian based at the University of Vienna, Austria, joined Thinking Through Practice to lead a workshop on deconstruction. During the course of this event, Zeillinger ‘thought through’ the practice of Derridian deconstruction as affirmative gesture. Breaks, interruptions, traces, doubts, performativity – all of these, inherent in such a practice, were brought to bear on question of ‘practical’ life.

The event took the form of a presentation on (amongst other things) generosity, the political and the question of faith.
Peter Zeillinger gave a magnificent marathon delivery on Derrida, deconstruction, Levinas and more in the Red Room at Chelsea School of Art.
After Peter’s presentation and discussion, everyone was invited to stay for dinner. Neil Cummings pre-prepared and delivered the feast and catering was orchestrated by various Critical Practice members. The Red Room, where this event was held, used to be the officers dining room in the days when the Chelsea site at Millbank was a military hospital. Thus, the transition from thinking to eating was not too difficult to make. This was our way of paying tribute to Derrida’s idea of hospitality!
